Presentation:
Fairly sparse and simple presentation. Medium to high walled ramekin placed on a paper doilee. Garnished with a few selected fruits.
Crust:
The crust is medium to thin in thickness. Traditional in taste and without any trace of charring.
Custard:
The custard's key unique feature is Grand Marnier. It is served cool. The texture starts out with a traditional thickness and becomes progressively more liquid as you progress down. It has a subtle orange hint from the Grand Marnier, but can almost be missed if you didn't know it was made with it. There is an equally subtle vanilla taste.
Overall Impression:
This is a fun crème brûlée. The sweet blend of the vanilla and Grand Marnier is delightful. The crust and custard don't work together as well as I have experienced before, with the crust being a bit to hard. I also do not think that custards should be non-uniform in consistency and thus find the liquid portion of crème brûlée is a minus. Despite these minor flaws, overall I find this crème brûlée to be generally of excellent quality.
